NOURISHING TRADITIONS

NOURISHING TRADITIONS

Seniors’ Culinary Heritage

Nourishing Traditions is an intergenerational, community-based program that uses food as a pathway to connection, cultural preservation, and well-being. The program invites seniors to share traditional recipes, cooking techniques, and family food stories, strengthening social participation and reducing isolation through shared culinary experiences.

Through facilitated cooking sessions, communal meals, storytelling, and recipe documentation, the program celebrates food as living heritage while promoting connection, identity, and mutual learning across generations. By centring seniors as knowledge holders and cultural contributors, Nourishing Traditions supports healthy aging, community belonging, and the preservation of cultural traditions.

OBJECTIVES

HOW IT WORKS
