LEGACY DAY FESTIVAL

LEGACY DAY FESTIVAL

An Annual Celebration Where Elders Lead the Way

The Legacy Day Festival is an annual, community-based public event that centres seniors as leaders, cultural contributors, and knowledge holders. Designed to promote social inclusion and intergenerational connection, the festival transforms parks, halls, and community spaces into vibrant hubs of heritage, storytelling, music, dance, food, and shared learning.

Created by and for seniors from diverse cultural backgrounds, the festival celebrates resilience, creativity, and lived experience. Youth and families participate as volunteers, performers, and learners, fostering meaningful intergenerational and intercultural exchange. The Legacy Day Festival strengthens community belonging, reduces social isolation, and ensures seniors’ voices, traditions, and contributions are recognized and celebrated.
