Legacy Keepers Network Society
Honoring Wisdom, Preserving Legacy, Empowering Elders
Legacy Keepers Network Society is an international nonprofit dedicated to supporting elders, especially those facing health challenges, isolation, or systemic neglect. We offer programs focused on advocacy, companionship, wellness, storytelling, cultural preservation, and intergenerational connection.
Legacy Keepers was born from a deeply personal experience. After witnessing the neglect of an elder loved one—my mother—during her battle with cancer, it became clear that far too many elders suffer in silence. This organization is a response to that reality, ensuring no elder faces health challenges or end-of-life care alone.
Our programs are designed for:
Elders navigating health issues or social isolation
Immigrant and culturally diverse elders
Families seeking advocacy tools and support
Youth and community members wanting to learn from and engage with elders
While Legacy Keepers began in Edmonton, Alberta, our long-term goal is to expand globally. Many of our storytelling, training, and advocacy resources can be accessed online, and we welcome international volunteers, partners, and elders.
Elders can:
Join storytelling and art programs
Serve on the Elders Advisory Council
Lead workshops or language circles
Share migration stories or culinary traditions
Participate in wellness circles and intergenerational events
They can be referred by family members, caregivers, community organizations, or through our Refer an Elder form.
We welcome compassionate individuals to serve as:
Companions in the "No Elder Left Behind" program
Event helpers and facilitators
Legacy story gatherers and documentarians
Mentors or mentees in intergenerational projects
