CRAFTING LEGACIES

CRAFTING LEGACIES

Skills from the Past

Crafting Legacies is an intergenerational, community-based program that supports seniors in sharing traditional skills as living expressions of culture, resilience, and identity. As many hands-on practices face the risk of being lost, this program centres seniors as teachers, mentors, and knowledge holders.

Through facilitated workshops, seniors pass down skills such as beadwork, basket weaving, drumming, sewing, braiding, farming practices, herbal knowledge, and other cultural crafts. These sessions create inclusive learning spaces where youth and community members engage through doing, learning, and connection. Crafting Legacies preserves practical knowledge, honours cultural heritage, and reinforces the continued relevance of ancestral skills in contemporary life.
